J. Noble Biography 2011

_____________________

Jason Noble is a musician who lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife, Kristin. He’s performed in the bands Rodan, Rachel’s and Shipping News. Working with the Quarterstick Record label has been a major influence for him, inspiring every facet of making and releasing albums. He’s also been happy to work with such fine bands as Gold Jacket Club, Shannonwright and Coliseum.

Over the last ten years, Jason’s music (with Rachel’s and other bands) has been featured in numerous film and television productions including Hancock, Any Given Sunday, Friday Nights Lights, The Art Of The Steal and the PBS documentary series POV. He has written original music for the films Our House and Rotating Mirror – directed by Greg King. Jason has performed live concerts for the BBC, NPR “Weekend Edition” and WNYC’s “New Sounds” program.

In 2009 he was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma (a rare cancer type). Through the financial generosity of many bands, artists and friends he’s received excellent care at MD Anderson in Houston. Jason’s health is improving – and he’s still receiving chemotherapy. You could say he strongly supports health care for all people on purely moral grounds.

In 2010 he released the album “Tempest” with a new project called The Young Scamels  (File 13 Records). On November 9th the band Shipping News celebrated 14 years of playing together with the new LP/CD “One Less Heartless To Fear” (Karate Body/Noise Pollution Records). In 2011, Jason collaborated with Christian Frederickson on his first solo album “The Painted Bird” (released in January) and produced a new album “Skull Drones” for his electronic project called Per Mission. In June, he will perform with Christian Frederickson at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York City as part of a new dance performance directed by Pavel Zuštiak .
